Always Dreaming, Welcome to the Fold

Always Dreaming was the 143rd Winner of the 
Kentucky Derby

A popular spot inside the Kentucky Derby Museum is the current year's winner and jockey inside the winners circle draped in roses. NYQUIST  2016 will pass the victorious crown to 
Number 5,  Always Dreaming 2017

 A prominent spot outside the Kentucky Derby Museum marks the remains of  the 2006 Kentucky Derby winner Barbaro. One of Pennsylvania's own and one of the saddest stories of the Triple Crown Races. I think every one was rooting for his recovery.

Secretariat the 1973 Winner of the Kentucky Derby  and Triple Crown Winner was a record breaking horse. His Kentucky Derby Tome is a track record,  Belmont , an American record in the dirt and Preakness stakes record.

For the Kentucky Derby, jockeys should weigh no more than or less than 126 pounds including tack and saddle. The weigh requirement for riders of fillies  is 121lbs.  The average jockey weighs between 108 and 114 lbs.

Some people place their bets on favorite riders, here are a few of the more popular ones throughout history.

Riding silks, boots, and riding crop worn by Bill Shoemaker and saddle. Shoemaker won 11 Triple Crown races but never the coveted Triple Crown.

Victor's costume from Dancing with the Stars is on loan to the museum. He was the 2nd contestant to be eliminated in the 2015 season but remains one of the favorite and highly regarded jockey's for his charitable contributions.

Kentucky Derby.

Only one will win the race.
