Mar. 3 Dress in Blue Day for Colon Cancer Awareness

Mar. 3 Williamson College of the Trades History Lecture and Book Signing at Middletown Free Library with Andrew Miller 2 p.m. His book is titled Williamson College of the Trades.

Mar. 3 Artist's Opening Reception sponsored Swarthmore Friends of the Arts exhibition by local architect and artist George Wilson at Swarthmore Borough Hall 121 Park Avenue 5 - 7 p.m. free and open to the public.  The exhibition will be on display Mar. 1 - 31.

Mar. 4 Philadelphia Craft Beer Festival at the Navy Yard.  The CBC Committee to Benefit Children will be accepting donations of soap, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, sunscreen and deodorant.

Mar. 4 Aston e Waste Recycle 9 a.m. to  p.m. at Commonwealth Recycling, Judy Way in Aston. Almost anything with a plug. No large appliances, bulbs, batteries or smoke detectors. Extra bonus: On-site hard drive shredding to prevent identify theft. Drop off CRT Monitors for $20 ea. LCD TV's for $20 ea, Console/ProjectionTV $50. Service fee may apply for certain items.

Mar. 4 Wildlife Photo Walk at 9 a.m. and Nature Walk at 10 a.m. at Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.

Mar. 4 Chadds Ford Historical Society will host a special art exhibition at the CFHS Barn Visitors Center that will be open to the public on Saturday evening, From 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. there will be an exclusive Preview Party where guests can view and purchase artwork made that morning. Tickets are $35 per person ($30 for Chadds Ford Historical Society members) and include heavy hors d'oeuvres - plus $15 of the ticket cost can be applied towards an art purchase. Complimentary drinks including a signature cocktail will be available. From 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. the public is invited to an Artists Reception and a wet paint sale. Admission is $15 per person ($10 for Chadds Ford Historical Society members). Guests can meet the artists and view their work that was just completed in the plein air event as well as select art featuring the Brandywine Valley. Please help support local artists by joining us for this fun event that steps back into time when early American illustrators and painters such as Frank Schoonover, Howard Pyle, Bayard Berndt, and N.C. Wyeth were inspired by the beauty of our region and painted outdoors. For more information and to purchase tickets please visit our website Tickets are also available at the Chadds Ford Historical Societys Barn Visitors Center at 1736 Creek Road in Chadds Ford, Monday through Friday between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Artists from the Mid-Atlantic region will be painting around the Chadds Ford area as well as at the Barns Brinton House, John Chads House and along Brandywine Creek.

Mar. 5 Bird Walk 9 a.m. at at Heinz National Wildlife Refuge.

Mar. 5 MAC to Showcase The Best of Past Media Film Festival Short Films at the Media UP Library 2:30 p.m. This will be an 80 minute program that will include dramas, comedies, animation and documentaries. Save the date for the upcoming 10th Annual Media Film Festival April 7 - 8 at the historic Media Theatre. Tickets are on sale now for the 2017 Festival.

Now through Mar. 31 Orchid Extravaganza at Longwood Gardens.

Tickets are on sale now for the new Museum of the American Revolution, this is going to be a "hot" ticket. Only timed tickets are being offered. Festivities begin April 19 at 8:30 a.m. and a four day opening celebration will occur Apr. 20 - 24.  Check the link for ticket opportunities and events you may wish to witness.


Starting Mar. 1  Free poppy seed packets will be available at the Destination Delco Tourist Bureau at 1501 N. Providence Road (corner of 3532 and Rose Tree Road. Remembering those that fought in World War I in this 100th Anniversary Year.

Mar. 6 Media Film Festival is coming up preview the best of previous year's 2 p.m. at Middletown Free Library.

Volunteer for the Feed My Starving Children event  Apr. 22 at Booner-Prendie and select Care at the Crossroads under Mobile Pack section. 

Mar. 6 - May 22 Senior Community Service is offering a watercolor class on Mondays at the Brookhaven Municipal Building 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The course will e taught by professional artist Agnes Wilson-Bakow. Cost $65.

Mar. 8 - May 24 Drawing Course at Aston Community Center 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays. The instructor will be Anne Dempsy. All skill levels. Pre-registration is required. Cost $65. For information and registration call Lori 484.496.2138.

Mar. 8 Women's History Month speaker series at Brandywine River Museum of Art Associate Curator Amanda Burdan will focus on Mar. 8, Georgia O'Keefe; March 15, Doris Lee; Mar. 22, Grandma Moses. Tickets $35 for the series ($25 for members) Individual lectures $15 ($10 members).
