Historic Waynesborough presents Stephen G. Hague, PhD, historian and former Exec. Director of Stenton. He will give an illustrated talk, followed by a book signing. He will cover architecture, landscapes, gardens and furnishings of ten Georgian houses, with special emphasis on Philadelphia connections. What houses make the “Top 10?” Ah, ‘til we meet on May 13th. Dr. Hague teaches British and European History at Rowan University. He holds a D. Phil. from Oxford University. This event supports ongoing maintenance of Historic Waynesborough.

May 14 Historic and Nature Walk 1:15 p.m. meet in Front of the Darby Free Library. Learn More about Darby, Collingdale, Aldan, Upper Darby and Clifton Heights while walking down Springfield Road, across the Charles A. Lindbergh Bridge and down to the "fall" to the Swedish Cabin. 4 miles of rich historic resources!. Making two stops....Bernie's Pretzels and Rosati's Water Ice...so bring money for these stops....$5 suggested... May 14 The 5th Annual Glenolden Historical Commission History Express to travel along Delaware County's Historic Route 13! A special storyteller will be on board to make the day fun and educational 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Advance FREE tickets are available at the library. The nonstop Glenolden Express will also travel through Norwood, Folcroft, Eddystone, Ridley Park, Prospect Park, and Sharon Hill - 6.05 miles of history! With your free trolley ticket, tour-goers will receive a reprint of a 1926 PA Roadway booklet "Chester Pike / Ye Olde Kings Highway" along with sweet tea and lemonade (while supplies last). The trolley lunch stop will include hot dogs, popcorn, pickle on a stick, hand spun trolley stop specialty cotton candy and more! There will be live music all day on the Glenolden Library lawn performed by the Schuylkill Valley Boys Ukulele Club and a History Center slide show presentation. There will also be Route 13 collectibles for sale. All proceeds will benefit the beautification of the Glenolden Library Grounds Project.  Your sponsorship is welcome.
