Upcoming Events and Things to Do Week of September 7

As of September 1, all fourth grades get a one year Free Pass, part of Every Kid in a Park. You and your family get free access to hundreds of parks, lands, and waters for an entire year. See How it Works! President Barack Obama created Every Kid in a Park so fourth graders and their families could discover our wildlife, resources, and history for free.

September 7 The Civil War nine episode Ken Burns series begins 9 p.m. on WHYY-TV. You can't find it OnDemand as far as I know but you may be able to watch the first episode and any that you may miss at the pbs.org website. I am guessing about this so don't hold me to it.

September 8 Green: From Eco Friendly to Envy 2015 SCIENCE AFTER HOURS at the Franklin Institute.

September 9 The 14th Annual Candlelight Vigil at Rose Tree Park "Remembering Those Lost to Suicide". 7:15 to 8:30 p.m.

September 10 Downton Abbey Tea Party Middletown Free Library's Fundraiser 1-3 p.m. at The Sage Farmhouse an unforgettable afternoon that will delight any Downton Abbey fan and help raise money for the Middletown Free Library. Feel free to dress up as your favorite character and/or wear your best hat/fascinator.

September 10  Aston Township Historical Society (ATHS) presents Back by popular demand is Bob Bardsley!  at 7 P.M. at the Aston Township  Municipal Building (rear entrance)...located just south of 5 Points on Pennell Road next to TD Bank.  There will also be a brief quarterly Society meeting. 

September 10 Hosted by Franklin Institute Chief Astronomer Derrick Pitts, Night Skies in the Observatory a monthly stargazing event held in the Joel N. Bloom Observatory. View celestial objects in the night sky, including stars, planets, nebulae, and if conditions are right, a galaxy or two, from 5 different rooftop telescopes in the Observatory. The evening includes a Fels Planetarium show and a lecture or presentation (appropriate for ages 8 and up) on an astronomical or space science topic.  Night Skies in the Observatory $5.00 Per Person, Free for Members. 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
