Top 10 Upcoming Things To Do This Weekend

February 6 -8 Friends of Middletown Free Library are having a book sale at the Granite Run Mall at the previous FYE store (lower level) location Friday $2 Hardback $1 Paperback Saturday Half Price Day Sunday $5 Bag Day.  All proceeds benefit Middletown Free Library.

Now through March 7 While you are at the mall visit the Mickey Vernon Museum final exhibit “Mickey Vernon: Grand Memories of a Great Champion“.  The exhibit closes March 7, 2015.  The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 4 pm and located on the second floor of the Granite Run Mall.

February 6 Black History Series: The African Americans:  Many Rivers to Cross, with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.  Episode One:  The Black Atlantic (1500-1800) Episode Two:  The Age of Slavery (1800-1860) 12:00 PM until 3:30 PM at J. Lewis Crozer Library in Chester.  This six hour series explores the evolution of the African-American people, as well as the multiplicity of cultural institutions, political strategies, and religious and social perspectives they developed - forging their own history, culture and society against unimaginable odds.  The series moves through five centuries or remarkable historic events up to the present - when America is led by a black president, yet remains a nation deeply divided by race.

February 7 Making Alcohol in Colonial Times Presentation by Tony Shahan Director of Newlin Gristmill at 1 p.m. Middletown Free Library.
Historian Tony Shahan will discuss how early beverages were produced with a focus on brewing, distilling whiskey, and producing rum. February 8 NASA Space Launch The Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) is scheduled to launch at 6:10 p.m. EST Sunday, Feb. 8 from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.
