Historical representation from all the townships and boroughs of Delaware County starting September 1, 2013.

CHICHESTER HISTORICAL SOCIETY - COMMUNITY DAY EVENT
On Sunday, September 1st, 2013 the Chichester Historical Society will be participating in Upper Chichester Township's annual Community Day event.  Join us at the historical society booth from noon to 4:00 p.m. where we will have exhibits and a collection of dairy farming equipment on display.  You can also enjoy free hayrides to the historic Twaddell Springhouse. Location: Furey Road Field, Furey Road, Upper Chichester Township
Sept 1st at Noon – at Chichester Historical Society Furey Road Field in Upper Chichester with a BELL RINGING CEREMONY Fox 29 Sue Serio is the Grand Marshall.

Roots to Branches of an Old Family Tree which is cosponsored by the Brinton Association of America, plus a display of Civil War artifacts courtesy of the Christian C. Sanderson Museum to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.

Coach departs Granite Run Mall Pole # 10 at 10:45 a.m., returning approx 4:30 p.m.

Visit the Wilmington Western Railroad Museum then enjoy a vintage steam train ride along the Red Clay Creek. Travel with troops for a 2¼-hour round-trip ride to the site of a skirmish between Union and Confederate forces. September 7 Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation
Paranormal Investigation with Delmarva Historic Haunts Special Program
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED 8:00p.m. $25.00 per person
On the night of August 4th, 2012 the Delmarva Historic Haunts performed an investigation of the spirits of the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation. This is the first time a paranormal investigation has been conducted on the 18th century farm buildings. They will share the results of this investigation on September 7th. Come and join the investigators as they lead each group from building to building, describing their findings at each stop. You may also tour the DHH mobile lab. They have declared the site as haunted, but decide for yourself!
The investigation is two-and-a-half hours long and are appropriate for ages 12 and up. You will be in darkened rooms with low light levels, and walking on some uneven paths. Please bring a flashlight. Investigations are held rain or shine - please dress accordingly.


September 12, 2013, 7 PM — Aston Township Historical Society - "History of Aston" Nancy Webster will give a lecture on the History of Aston. 7:00 PM - Aston Township Municipal Building, Pennell Road, Aston.

Saturday, September 14th....Collingdale History Day  10 - 5 pm at the Collingdale Community Center. Hope to get all the businesses, organizations, schools and churches involved. 

September 14 Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation Fall Hearth Cooking Workshop
10:00a.m. – 4:00p.m. $40.00 per person, $35.00 for members/volunteers (Includes admission to Plantation for the day)  Reservations required – limit 10.
Ever wonder what it was like to cook in colonial times? Join us for the day in a hands-on workshop that will take you from morning to evening in the kitchen of a restored colonial farmhouse! Our expert cook, Mercy, will compile a menu which will include soup, bread and cheese for lunch. You will assist throughout the process of making lunch and a more formal dinner for a 4pm meal.
