(The polls were pretty empty at the PA Primary and now it is over)
General Election November 2, 2010
1. I have no political agenda. I live in a politically divided household which makes it interesting at election time. We can both come to the middle and cross party lines if it works for us in a general election. I just wish politicians could all get along and lead us out of this fine mess we have found ourselves in.
2. During the primary this week, you had to stay in your own stable. Lt. Governor was the toughest, there were 9 Republican candidates 3 Democrats and 1 Constitution Party. TMI to absorb but I went to all the websites. There were a lot of similar issues but various personalities.
3. Sestak and Specter was the most visible race for Senator. I took a poll on the phone about these candidates. I think it will be a tough call deciding the better choice. Turnout was light. It should be known today.
Update: "Specter loses after switching parties from republican senator to democrat in December 2009". "He was a republican for 30 years".
Lost my job of 27 years I'd love to chat and relate.
4. Tom Corbett’s camp made the most “republican” phone calls and sent the most literature to the house. One of the pamphlets slammed the other guy in his own party. It made me go to a coffee chat with the other guy and look up his website. I think a lot of people were undecided here. I liked being in the presence of the candidate, face to face. It is too bad everyone does not have the time or opportunity.
5. The following information is something that affects all Pennsylvanians regardless of your political stand. I tried to show two opinions on the subject because I am still weighing the pros and cons myself. The state of PA is planning on making a lot of money from this. Seems our budget is a little out of whack too and we could use the cash flow without raising taxes. For more information, you will have to forgive my pun “drill down” further. Marcellus Shale is the most interesting information that came to my attention by way of this political platform. http://pamarcellus.com/fracing.php#CNGC http://www.cleanwateraction.org/action/save-pennsylvanias-forests-gas-drilling
This is happening now and very much involves our state’s future.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing for the environment? Does PA have the answer?

6. Best original website of the campaign goes to Lieutenant Governor Candidate Billy McCue. You can search a database on his website (billymccue.com) of personal care facilities by zip code and see their violations. McCue lost his own mother partly due to careless treatment in a facility. It is one of the reasons he decided to get involved in politics. He does put it out there. Mr. McCue is an entrepreneur in the film business. Checking out the haunted house information link he provided? Well these are scary times. Looks like you might be able to take a chemistry course free as well on that site. I did not pursue but I might stop back.
7. I received a phone call invitation to coffee in Media by a Republican Governor hopeful, Sam Rohrer on Monday afternoon. There were roughly 50 people in attendance. It was the very first one I have ever gone to. He was a good speaker.
8. Russ Diamond Republican, Lt. Governor Candidate gets best music video “We Are Free” he sings on his ad campaign. It is a catchy tune. Russ is a recording studio owner and musician. He also started PACleanSweep.com in 2005.
9. Barrack Obama supporting his candidate called the house on Sunday. Suppose it’s no secret who he would vote for if he were living in Pennsylvania. Too bad he only lives on Pennsylvania Avenue.
10. “The best man for the job is a woman”. Now that certainly was my favorite call, women do have a way with words. Hope she just used that on the ladies though it might have peeved the gents.
I read all the political information and had to go with the one whose views were the closest to mind. Not one was an exact match. I feel fortunate that I was able to cast my vote and wonder why everyone doesn’t feel the need to express their opinion and make their voice count. Pretty sure the candidates that I gave “best of “ will not be selected this time around but more and more career politicians are being challenged by “we the people”. I think it’s a good thing people are stepping up and caring, not just talking about it.
The best reason I am glad I went to the polls today: I met the new commissioner of Nether Providence’s Ward 5, Larry Baker, he plans on having a newsletter go out to residents. Constituents can email Larry to get on the list. lbaker@netherprovidence.org He seems like a good guy. I will miss Mr. John Kennedy and his great smile and personality; he did care and made a difference. Not often do these men and women who take office and dedicate their time receive our thanks.
On a lighter note: I went to have my photo updated on my license today and the state employee was very kind and took several pictures, she worked with me. I appreciated her time and patience. : )
