Top 10 Cover Songs who did it best?

1. All Along the Watchtower written by Bob Dylan. I like the Dave Mason version and of course there is the Jimi Hendrix version.

Harrah's Casino in Chester 2008

2. I’d Rather Go Blind song by Etta James. Beyonce sang Etta James’ hit At Last at the Obama Inaugural Ball. Miss James was a little upset she was not asked to perform. Beyonce did an amazing job playing Etta James in the movie Cadillac Records.

3. Imagine. Elton John was brave. Imagine anyone else but John Lennon singing that song.

4. Walk the Line. Joaquin Phoenix playing the roll of Johnny Cash in the titled movie? Pretty darn good.

5. Soul Man. The Blues Brothers with lovable John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd singing Soul Man. Originally the songs was sung by Sam and Dave equally as rockin.

6. Up on the Roof written by Carole King was first recorded by The Drifters and who can forget the James Taylor version.

7. Something was written by George Harrison. Have you ever heard ole blue eyes, Frank Sinatra do it?

8. Mamma Told Me Not to Come by Three Dog Night, Randy Newman did a fun version but I saw Chuck Negron do this song in Pompano Beach in 2008 and he still rules on this song. He has a best selling book out called Three Dog Nightmare in which he speaks about his struggle with addiction. It’s a great book.

Pompano Beach, Florida 2008

9. Shana Na made a career out of cover songs. Their Woodstock performance just prior to Jimi Hendrix sky-rocketed them to fame.

10. Minds Eye View is a rocking local band that will be playing at The Paddock in Devon on August 20th starting at 9PM. They do a great job with Johnny B. Goode. Watch Chuck and Johnny Lennon do it.
